根据天府旅游名县、四川省文化旅游特色小镇和文化旅游产业优秀龙头企业评选办法，平乐镇通过省文化和旅游产业领导小组的评选，成为文化旅游特色小镇一员。
在今天（29日）上午召开的四川省文化和旅游发展大会上，对平乐镇在内的20个四川文化旅游特色小镇进行了授牌，标志平乐镇正式获得四川文化旅游特色小镇称号。
回首过往，平乐古镇已获得中国历史文化名镇、全国重点镇、国家AAAA级景区、全国环境优美镇、中国民间文化艺术之乡、中国十大文化休闲之地、省级旅游度假区等荣誉称号。
平乐，古称平落，迄今已有2000多年历史。有狮灯、牛儿灯、竹龙、平乐山歌等民俗文化，有国家级非物质文化遗产“竹麻号子”“瓷胎竹编”，省级非物质文化遗产孔明灯，是中国历史文化名镇，拥有格局完整的历史街区，共有全国重点文物保护单位 1处（茶马古道），四川省级文物保护单位 4处（乐善桥、平乐李家大院、平乐冶铁遗址、天宫寺摩岩造），成都市级文物保护单位2处（芦沟造纸作坊遗址、徐家碉楼）
