川西竹海景区位于成都市邛崃市平乐古镇，距离成都98公里，景区内竹林茂密，10万余亩竹海，苍翠欲滴，谷内曲径幽幽，空气清新，据测定，景区内空气中每立方米负氧离子含量至少达到200余万个，是成都市区的数百倍，因其冠绝成都的负氧离子含量，素有“天然氧吧”之美誉。景区内有成都首座高空玻璃栈道，高空索桥、高空观景平台、缘定桥、飞拉达（铁道式攀登）等游玩项目；呐喊泉、相思崖、佛话今生、崖居人家、宋代造纸遗址、滴水崖、缘起石、天书瀑布等自然景观和人文遗址,每一处都印刻着岁月的痕迹。
每每清风徐来，仰观竹波荡漾、俯闻竹涛低呤，或随心漫步于林间曲径、或悠然坐卧于溪边石侧、陶醉于清心爽目之天然氧吧，细品黔叹、心旷神怡、实乃妙绝……
随着铁道式攀登和攀岩等项目的引入，户外运动走进了这川西秘境，幽静的山谷热闹了，万顷竹海更加欢腾了，川西竹海景区也有了“丝路首镇·户外天堂”的美称。
2018年5月，成都市《建设西部文创中心行动计划( 2017-2022 年) 》的重点文创标志性项目，成都首座高空玻璃栈道、高空观景平台在川西竹海完美呈现。
景区内主要有五大特色：

1、全国第一高空索桥（The Nation's first high-altitude rope bridge）
景区内有全国跨度最长、距地面最高的第一高空窄底单跨双塔人行悬索桥——仙侣牧云桥，桥总长165米，桥身宽1.5米，距地面105米，跨径199米。人行于索桥之上如云端漫步，故得其名。

川西竹海其岩质坚硬、地形丰富、高度坡度适宜，拥有自然裸露的岩壁，景区于2010年，携手法国迪亚内公司设计开发了融趣味性、惊险性、挑战性于一体的中国首条铁道式攀登线路和徒手攀岩的理想自然场所，目前，已开发的数十条攀岩线路，其难度从入门到高级，适合不同阶段和年龄段的攀岩爱好者。
景区依托独特的竹海峡谷地形，携手国内多家知名户外拓展和研学机构共同打造形成广大户外爱好者和团队到此处进行户外竞技赛事活动、健身运动、团建活动等体育运动基地，成为了成都区域内最具吸引力的大自然户外活动场所，至此，户外休闲旅游逐渐成为了这里一种充满活力的新型旅游方式。
平乐古镇川西竹海景区的铁道式攀登是我国第一条铁道式攀登线路。幽静秀美的山谷风光，悠远古朴的历史文化，志同道合的攀登人群，让这里成为攀岩者的天堂。
